Sign up for newsletters & get Coupon Sherpa app

One of my advice to be aware of the promotion of your favorite brands is to sign up for the e-mails. You’re the first ones to know about sales so you can get better deals.

I know it can be annoying to receive emails everyday so I’ll suggest to create a special account for the newsletters. This way, you can only look into this email box when you are looking for something and not be tempting by the everyday “attractive” deals.

I have also just discovered this application recently called Coupon Sherpa available in the Itunes store for free. This app got hundreds of in-store coupons for your fave retailers and restaurants. You just have to present the coupon from your phone and the cashier will scan it.

I have tested… some Foundations

It’s not always easy to find an affordable and good foundation. And it’s always too bad to spend $10-15 for something you won’t wear or worst invest in a Dior foundation that is not fitting you.

Well I was used to my Chanel foundation for a long time but I wanted to save money on this expense so I have branched out to “lower” brand.

I have tested Fit Me Foundation from Maybelline, bad idea. It’s certainly cheap but it’s super oily and sheer, it doesn’t cover at all.

For few more dollars, I recommend the Instant Age Rewind Foundation. I have premature wrinkles, some imperfection to hide and deep under eye circles, it just does a great job to hide everything. It has a nice finish smooth and a SPF 18 to help protect the skin from sun damage, comes in 8 radiant shades. More info on it here: http://bit.ly/17MPgq1.

Be smart and shop online, you will save few dollars on Amazon without moving from your couch: http://amzn.to/1d49EaI

Go back to Basic and be eco-friendly

There are for sure some basic, casual pieces we can’t miss in our wardrobe. We will wear them seasons after seasons. You might think it’s easy to get them at a cheap price and it’s true. But while you will spend $15 every season to renew your basic, you might spend $60 after 4 seasons for a basic tee shirt.

For some casual pieces, I believe we should invest a little bit more first to last longer. And I can’t pass talking about this brand I have discovered few months ago when I first moved to San Francisco.

It’s called Marine Layer, there are 3 stores in the Bay Area: Marina, Hayes Valley & the most recent store opened in Burlingame. It’s purely made in San Francisco!

The founder and his products have a really interesting story:

“The day his girlfriend threw away his favorite shirt, Mike started working on Marine Layer…that was perfectly soft and great fitting right out of the gates. It took a couple of big credit card bills and over a year of development to make the first run of shirts, but they were worth the wait. Mike set up “shop” in his living room in San Francisco and sold the first hundred shirts in just a few weeks.
Every step of the production process happens in California. This minimizes the environmental footprint and supports three American factories that have been in business for over 25 years. The custom fabric is a blend of two yarns, Pima Cotton and MicroModal, produced by Lensiz AG. Modal is a bio-based fabric that comes from recycled Beech Wood”marine layer teeMy favorie basic: the tri blend V-neck tee in grey, $35

Visit their website: http://www.marinelayer.com/

I love to pair this tee with the Midnight Bloom or Painted Zebra scarves from Stella & Dot.

Style Session: Be Bright, Be Black, Be Bold

I went shopping few weeks ago in SF downtown and I made a lovely finding. First of all, I have discovered a brand I’ve never shopped before: Club Monaco. I knew this brand but I never dare to go in because I knew it wasn’t really for my budget but that day I wanted to explore different brands and I’ve decided to go in anyway. I’m glad I did.

I found this cute little skirt for $35 only – you can shop it online here http://bit.ly/1fYB71l but price is higher (they had a 30% additional off)! I thought it will be more a spring/summer skirt and I’ll wear it with a white blouse or casual shirt with nude or gold flats… It’s one option.

But as it’s already Fall and I’m a black lover, I have decided to dress it up with some black and accessorize with some coral/orange notes to pop up the light orange in the skirt.

Slide1

  • Mix with my new cut out booties – totally trendy http://bit.ly/1hdPspC,
  • A must have classic black blazer with roll up or not. Mine is from H&M, I got it 2 years ago for $50, update: SOLD OUT NOW AT ZARA,
  • A casual black sweater you can find everywhere but I have selected a J. Crew Factory one with better quality as it’s an essential piece you will wear over and over throughout several seasons, http://bit.ly/HeDT3W,
  • My amazing leather Satchel, I have chose this light purse to boost back the skirt, I bought it on sale few months ago at J. Crew so it sold out but for Fall/Winter they have it in black and in spice colors http://bit.ly/HeEliw and there is also a mini version in black and “paprika”http://bit.ly/1aaKXec, love the mini version, super cute – will wait for the sales,
  • A statement necklace to dress up the outfit – the Olivia Bib Necklace from Stella & Dot http://bit.ly/1dp7sgG. Love it? Want it for free? Contact me and host a trunk show!
  • Makeup: I got this bright coral gloss from bareMinerals – well for free as it was one of the goodies at the last S&D Hoopla. I don’t usually wear gloss but I really love this one and I think for this kind of color, a gloss is the perfect option. http://bit.ly/1bjS6p1
  • Nails: L’Orange by L’Oreal to match my necklace and my lips http://amzn.to/1ih1vA9

Love this outfit? What do you think?

N.B: Parisians are known for wearing just black and when they are a little bit crazy they wear a pop of grey according to the comedian Olivier Giraud.
